Lauren Hurston joined us in November to share a story about family. Her story describes her journey from self harm to finding her way with the help of her mother.

Bio: Hurston, who teaches a teen writers workshop at The Muse Writing Center, has a bachelor’s from James Madison University, a masters from Rosemont College, and a creative writing MFA from MFA from Old Dominion University. Her fiction has been published in Midwest Literary Magazine and is featured in the anthology Bearing North; her nonfiction has won the William Brenner Nonfiction Prize and the Agnes L. Braganza Award.
